Have you been following up-and-coming young golfer Caleb Surratt? While he’s made the occasional blunder on the course, he has demonstrated a lot of skill and we’re excited to see what the future holds for him.
Who is Caleb Surratt?
Caleb Surratt is an 18-year old freshman golfer on full scholarship at the University of Tennessee. He has been an AJGA Rolex Junior All-American twice and shows a lot of promise on the golf course. This year, Surratt finished runner-up at the 2022 US Junior Amateur and reached 21st on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
2022 Bermuda Championship
Surratt definitely had a memorable experience at this year’s Bermuda Championship in October 2022. He was the only amateur to play the weekend, making the cut by just one shot after making a score of 7-under 64.
Things went a little downhill from there. Surratt struggled with the 14th hole, which was a problem area that proved difficult for many golfers at this year’s championship. The hole started off shaky, with Surratt hitting his tee shot out of bounds, his third shot ended up in the rough, and when all was said and done he took 12 strokes to make the hole, 8 over par.
Despite Surratt’s rude awakening on the 14th hole, the fact that this amateur even made the cut in the first place is a big deal, and no doubt the 2022 Bermuda Championship was a valuable learning experience for him. We think we’ll be seeing a lot of interesting things from Surratt in the next few years as he builds his confidence and hones his skills.
