We get it, it’s natural to want to look up and see where your ball’s going after you hit it, but lifting your head too early will negatively affect your shot. After hitting your ball, make a conscious effort to count “one Mississippi, two Mississippi” and do not look up to watch your ball until you’re done counting to two. This will give you a more accurate shot and great results.
Practicing Wrong
Many people go to the driving range with no particular strategy and just hit balls. While this is better than not practicing at all, it’s not the best strategy for improving your long game. Instead, choose a specific target at the driving range and shoot towards that. This will improve your accuracy and improve your game much faster than just hitting balls with no real concern where they land.
Not Warming Up
Many golfers just jump straight into playing, but this has a negative impact on your game and your body. Take a little time before you start golfing to stretch, move your body briskly, and take a few practice swings. This loosens up your body and limbers you up so you can swing better.
Swinging too Hard
Many amateur golfers think they should prioritize distance and power by swinging as hard as they can, but actually perfecting a slow, deliberate swing will benefit you much more. If all you’re focusing on is power, your shot is likely to go far but not necessarily in the trajectory you want. Instead, focus on getting your stance right, perfecting your technique, and then gradually build up your swing power.
