These easy golf drills can all be done at home in your living room or garage.
Simple Golf Drills at Home
Roll the Battery
The “Roll the Battery” drill is a simple way to determine whether you are getting a square impact with your putter face. For this drill, all you need is your putter and a cylindrical D battery. On a carpet or floor, place the battery in front of your putter horizontally and hit it the same way you would hit a golf ball when putting. If the battery rolls straight towards your target, great! That means you’re hitting with a square impact. If the battery rolls off in a circular direction, you need to work on getting squared.
Posture Drill
This is a great way to improve your golf posture from your living room. Grab a putter and position yourself as if you are about to hit a ball, but place the top of your head against a wall and the toe of your club against the baseboard where the wall and floor meet. Try putting the ball without moving your head from the wall. This trains you to keep your head in position and not move it around while swinging your club.
Ball on the Wall Drill
This drill helps to increase your swing power and improve your positioning. To do it, you will need a large exercise ball and a golf club. Stand next to a wall so that you are parallel to it, and place the exercise ball so that it is between your left hip and the wall. Your hip should be keeping the ball held up against the wall. Now, swing your golf club without letting the ball drop onto the ground. This helps you get a better position and follow-through for your swing and increases your power.
