Summer is practically here! Follow these simple tips to enjoy summer golf and stay cool on the course.
Pick an Early Tee Time
Schedule your summer rounds of golf as early in the morning as you can. This way, it will still be cool when you tee off, and you won’t be sweltering in the late afternoon sun. Believe us, getting up early is worth it for how much more comfortable you will be!
Stay Hydrated
Make sure that you pack plenty of water and sip it often throughout your round of golf. When it’s hot, our bodies need more water than usual, so drink more than you would regularly. Drinking plenty of water can help you stay cool and reduce the risk of heat exhaustion.
Pack a Mini Fan
On those extra hot days, pack a personal mini fan in your golf bag. You can get small, battery powered fans to keep you cool on the course. Some even have water misters built right in to keep you even cooler. These little gadgets are a lifesaver on hot days when you want to play a round of golf without overheating.
Bring an Extra Towel (or Two)
It is a good idea to have an extra towel with you on hot days, so you can mop up sweat on your face to cool down. You may also want to bring another small towel that you can douse with cold water and then drape over the back of your neck for when temperatures are really soaring.
Wear Breathable Fabrics
On hot summer days, the fabrics you wear make a big difference. Choose clothing made from natural fibers or sweat-wicking fabrics. These types of fabrics breathe and will leave you feeling cool and dry compared to synthetic materials. Oh, and don’t forget your hat and sunglasses!
Stay in the Shade with an Umbrella
It’s easy to get too much sun when you are out golfing in the summer because many golf courses have long stretches without shade. To avoid being in the direct sun all afternoon, simply pack a foldable umbrella and use it to create some shade while you’re walking from hole to hole.
