This year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational took place from March 4th to 10th, 2024 at Bay Hill in Orlando. After last year’s victory by Kurt Kitayama, Scottie Scheffler has won 2024’s invitational by a whopping five shots.
Scottie Scheffler Wins the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational
Scottie Scheffler came out on top at this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, receiving the winner’s purse of $4,000,000. Scheffler switched from a blade to mallet putter for the invitational, and evidently it worked the way he was hoping it would. After a period of not-so-great putting, Scheffler putted magnificently to win this year’s invitational. Scheffler talked about his short game with the press, saying:
“I know that I can putt really well, iIt isn’t like I have been a bad putter my whole career. I just had a spell that was tough. Golf looks pretty easy on TV. When you are out here competing on the PGA Tour, it is difficult. There had been a lot of chatter about my game and where it was at. So it was nice to come here and perform so well under pressure.”
This marks Scheffler’s seventh Tour title and the third time he’s won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in the past three years.
Clark & Lowry Earn Second & Third
Scheffler was not the only one who played some impressive golf at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Second place went to Scheffler’s fellow American Wyndham Clark, last year’s US Open champion. Irish golfer Shane Lowry started off the day a little rough, bogeying on the 1st, 2nd and 7th holes but then pulling it together and playing beautifully in order to secure third place.
